Custom reports allow you to customize a singular report type or build a report by combining sections from different report types available in Vista Social. This gives you full flexibility to create reports tailored to your specific needs.
How to create a custom report
To get started, go to Reports → Custom reports.
- Create a New template, then select a specific report type.
-
This will open the report editor. Editing depends on the type of report you are trying to customize.
-
Single report customization: refers to configuring any one predefined report template (such as profile performance, post performance, review performance, etc.). You customise the sections within that specific report type only, without combining sections from multiple report templates.
In other words, this includes all report types except the Custom report.
-
Multi-report customization: refers to building a Custom report by combining sections from multiple predefined report templates into one unified report.
Unlike single report customisation, this allows you to mix and match sections across different report types (e.g., profile performance, post performance, inbox performance, etc.) to create a fully tailored report.
-
Before customizing your report, you may select specific social profiles or profile groups you'd like to include in the template.
Single report customization
When customizing a single report, you have the option to choose which metrics you want to be included in the template. Once inside the template editor:
- Enter a template name at the top right.
-
You can hide specific elements in the report by clicking the gear ⚙️ icon in the top-right corner. From the dropdown menu, select the items you want to hide, such as:
a. Percentage change indicatorsb. AI summary
c. Paid/organic values
d. Hidden sections
e. Sample indicators.
-
You may add a cover page if you wish to add some text or an image on the first page of the report.
-
Customize the rest of the report by:
a. Adding additional text per section
b. Renaming metrics
c. Hiding sections you want to exclude from the report.
-
You may add additional text in the report sections to explain what the data is all about or to provide more information in general. To add additional text per section, simply click Add additional text for this report section. Type in your additional text and save the template after you are done with your customization.
-
To remove the section, click on Remove additional text for this report section.
-
You can also rename each metric in case your organization uses different terminology for the metric. To rename a metric, click the pen icon beside the title of the metric, and you should now be able to rename it.
-
To easily hide sections you want to exclude in the report, click the eye icon on the upper right-hand part of the section, and it will automatically be excluded in the report.
Multi-report customization
With a multi-report customization (custom report), you can combine multiple sections from different report types. Once inside the template editor:
-
Enter a template name at the top (e.g., Social Media & Post Performance summary).
Click Add sections (top right) or Add your first section.
Browse available report types.
You can select sections from all our report types, either from a cross-channel or an individual report. You can also mix both cross-channel and network-specific sections in the same report.
After adding sections, you can:
Rearrange them by dragging and dropping
Remove sections you don’t need
Add more sections at any time
This allows you to create highly customized reports with multiple data perspectives.
