Link previews are an essential part of scheduling posts to social media channels with Vista Social. In short - as soon as you design you message, we will grab the link from your post and try to pull its details - image, page title and description. We do this to allow our users to preview the post before it is published. Being able to preview the post before it is published is essential to avoiding posting issues.
Below you will find how it works
1) Note how the pos is designed with a link
2) Note that link preview is generator
3) Note that post preview becomes available too
The the not so great news: rare link preview generation issues
In few super rare situation, it is possible, that some website won't allow themselves to be inspected and therefore we may not be able to generate a link preview. When this happens you will see a message that looks like this:
The good news: issues are extremely rare
Out of thousands of link preview that we generate daily we may have once in a blue moon report from a user that there is a website that does not work. Why does it not work? Some site owners just don't like their content to be shared. Don't ask us why! Seems super counter intuitive.
The even better news: you can still publish your post
Yep, so even though we have not been able to generate a link preview, you can still publish your post and for as long as you are sure that the link you are using is valid the post will turn out fine.
Conclusion
- Link previews help with previewing the post before it goes out
- Ultimately you can still publish the post even if the link preview didn't generate
