Why were my CSV posts published instantly instead of being scheduled to the queue?

When bulk-scheduling content via CSV in Vista Social, you may have run into an issue where some or all of your posts are published immediately instead of being scheduled into future queue slots.

This can happen even when the queue appears to be set up correctly. In most cases, this behavior could be caused by specific limitations in the platform.

 

Possible reasons your CSV posts were published instantly

1. The queue has no available time slots

If a queue does not have any scheduled publishing slots available, posts uploaded via CSV cannot be added to the queue. When this happens, the system publishes the posts immediately using the current time.

To prevent this, each queue must have at least one active time slot. If you attempt to remove all time slots from a queue, you’ll see an error message letting you know that at least one slot is required.

2. The queue has reached its post limit

Each social profile's queue in Vista Social supports up to 500 posts.

If more than 500 posts already exist in a queue, any additional posts uploaded via CSV will not be scheduled into future slots. Instead, the system automatically publishes them using the current time.

3. Posts exceed the 12-month scheduling limit

Vista Social’s queue system includes a 12-month scheduling guardrail.

When uploading a large number of posts via CSV, available slots are filled for up to the next 12 months. Once the 12-month limit is reached, the system cannot project scheduling any further into the future.

Any remaining posts beyond this limit will be published immediately using the current time.

 

Recommendation

Before uploading a CSV file, we recommend checking the following:

  • The queue has active and available publishing slots

  • The queue contains fewer than 500 posts

  • The total number of posts fits within the next 12 months of scheduled queue slots

Uploading in smaller batches or spreading posts across multiple queues can help prevent this behavior.
