Keeping your socials active with high-quality content can be challenging, especially when you’re short on time or ideas. That’s where Evergreen Repurposing comes in.
This guide will show you everything you need to know to get started with Vista Social’s Evergreen suite. Let’s dive in!
What is "Evergreen" content?
Evergreen content is a post that you designate for repeated publishing over time. This helps you:
- Get more reach while maximizing the ROI (return on investment) of your best content
- Keep your publishing queue filled, even during slower periods
- Save time by reducing the need to manually reschedule posts
- Keep your social presence consistent and reliable
In Vista Social, the Evergreen Repurposing feature allows your posts to be automatically recycled into your publishing queue multiple times, based on the limits and expiration date you choose. You can identify evergreen content with the leaf icon:
How to mark a post as evergreen
You can set a post as evergreen in three different ways:
1. While scheduling a new post
When scheduling your post, check the Evergreen option in the schedule settings.
Choose your reuse and expiration settings. Decide how long your post should remain evergreen, how many times it can be reused, and how frequently it can be repeated. Don't forget to hit Save.
2. After publishing
Go to your Calendar to view your published posts in Vista Social.
Select the post you want to repurpose. Then, click on the kebab menu (three dots) → Evergreen.
Configure your evergreen settings, then hit Save.
3. From the Evergreen page
Go to Create → Evergreen
Click Add evergreen at the top right.
Add your previously published content to Evergreen by ticking the check boxes next to each post. Then, click Add to evergreen.
Configure your evergreen settings, then hit Save.

Note Only posts scheduled in Vista Social are eligible — native platform posts cannot be marked as evergreen. |
Setting rules for your evergreen content
When designating a post as Evergreen, you’ll be asked to set three required parameters:
1. Expiration date
This is the last date the post will be eligible for reuse.
After this date, the post will no longer be recycled into your publishing queue.
2. Number of posts
This sets the maximum number of times the post can be reused.
You can set up to 25 reuses for each evergreen post.
3. Repeating interval
This defines how often the post can be repeated.
The minimum interval is 3 days, and the maximum is 100 days.
For example, if you set 14 days, the post will not republish until at least two weeks after its last publish.

Managing evergreen slots in your queue
Evergreen posts won’t publish randomly — they need Evergreen slots in your queue.
To set this up:
Go to Settings → Publishing Settings → Publishing Queues.
Select the profile group and the social profile you want to add evergreen time slots to.
In your publishing queue, hover over the selected time slot and click on the pencil icon.
- Toggle your time slot as Evergreen.
- Evergreen time slots will have this icon.
Monitoring post status
In the Evergreen page, you can monitor the status (and performance) of your Evergreen content. To go there, click Create from the left main menu → Evergreen.
Click on Evergreen status to see the general overview of your evergreen posts.
Evergreen queue: How many posts are currently scheduled into a slot set as "Evergreen".
Active evergreen posts
Next possible time: Which next date an evergreen post is set to potentially go out.
If you want a post level status:
On the kebab menu (three dots) at the top right of the post you want to check, select Evergreen.
Each Evergreen post shows a status indicator:
Active: Still eligible for reuse
Limit reached: The maximum number of republishes has been met
Expired: Post has passed its expiration date
Tracking Evergreen performance and ROI
Under performance, you’ll see the extra impressions, interactions, and results generated by Evergreen republishes — helping you track ROI from repeat publishing.
Once a post is set as Evergreen, you can track its results in the Evergreen details panel. Here you’ll see:
Posts – how many times the content has been published (original + repeats).
Impressions – the total number of views your evergreen post has received.
Engagement – the number of interactions (likes, comments, shares, etc.) generated.
ROI % – the return on investment, showing how much extra performance you’ve gained compared to the original post.

Below the summary, you’ll also find a publish history table, showing:
The status of the post (e.g., published, active, expired).
The date and time of each publication.
The impressions and engagement for each publish instance.
Best practices for your evergreen content
Use Evergreen for timeless, reusable content (tips, testimonials, blog links, FAQs).
Avoid time-sensitive posts (sales deadlines, event promos).
Spread out repeats strategically by reusing your top-performing posts over time. This maximizes reach, extends content lifespan, and keeps your audience engaged without overwhelming your feed.
Regularly check the Evergreen page to manage your content and keep it fresh.
