TikTok enforces a strict messaging window when responding to Direct Messages (DMs). This helps maintain a positive user experience and protects users from unsolicited or delayed outreach.
TikTok requires that messages be replied to within 48 hours of the user’s last message. After that, the messaging window closes, and you won’t be able to send any additional replies—unless the user re-engages.
How the 48-hour window works
The 48-hour countdown starts from the most recent message sent by the user.
If the user writes again—even after the window has closed—the window reopens, and you can resume the conversation.
During an open window, you can reply to new and older messages, and send up to 10 messages.
Recommendation
To improve your response time and avoid message blocks, consider enabling DM Automations.
