While scheduling Instagram posts with product tagging, you might have come across the issue below:
We couldn't add/update/delete product tags on your product. The product ID may be incorrect, the product may have been deleted or the app user may not have permission to tag the product.
Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you overcome this error:
1. Confirm the product(s) are published & able to be tagged on the Instagram App
In order for scheduling tools like Vista Social to be able to tag products in your posts, those products must be fully published and able to be tagged natively on Instagram.
To test this, head to the Instagram app and try creating a post (you don't have to publish it, don't worry!). If the product can be tagged in the app, that's great news!
2. Confirm you have a checkout-enabled Shop with Meta
In August 2023, Meta announced that businesses without checkout-enabled Shops on Facebook and Instagram would no longer be able to tag products on third-party tools (like Vista Social).
If you don't have checkout with Instagram set up, you'll need to upgrade your shops to checkout with Instagram before being able to tag your posts on any scheduling tool like ours.
3. Check your product catalog access in Meta Business Suite
If you're seeing the error account not eligible when trying to tag products, this usually means the Facebook user who authenticated the Instagram account in Vista Social doesn't have full access to the product catalog.
To check this:
- Go to Meta Business Suite settings
- Under Users, click People
- Select the person who authenticated the Instagram account
- Scroll down to the Catalogs section
- Confirm each catalog listed shows Full access
If a catalog shows partial access instead of full access, ask a business admin to update the permission to full access, then try tagging the product again.
