Looking to improve team collaboration? Use the post commenting feature to streamline communication and keep feedback organized—all within the platform.
It allows you, your team, and even your clients to add comments to your scheduled posts, drafts, posts pending review, and posts that didn't make the cut during review. It's a fantastic way to brainstorm, share feedback, and get your posts in tip-top shape.
Types of post comments
There are two types of notes that you can add to posts:
-
Internal Comments: These are private comments that only your team members can see. Use internal comments for team discussions, planning, and feedback. This keeps all sensitive and internal information secure within your team.
-
External Comments: These comments are visible to users outside of your team, such as clients or partners. External comments are perfect for gathering feedback from clients or collaborating with partners. Viewers can only see these comments (internal comments are not visible).
How to leave post comments?
1. Spot the little chat bubble icon on the top right of the scheduler? That's your key to starting a conversation about a post.
2. Click on it, and you can leave your thoughts, ideas, or any suggestions right there. Remember that internal comments are for your team, while external comments are for your shared calendar viewers/clients!
3. If a collaborator is using a shared calendar link to view posts, they can add external comments from there as well. Just make sure that you enable this in your shared calendar's settings.
4. When leaving a note, they will be asked to leave their personal information (name and email address).
|
Note Your shared calendar (external) comments will remain separate from your internal team comments, ensuring only the right eyes see the right feedback. |
Attaching media to comments
You can attach images and videos to any post comment, internal or external. Click the paperclip icon (Attach an image or video) in the comment box, pick your file, and post your comment as usual. This works anywhere comments show up, including published posts and shared calendars, so you can drop in a revised graphic or a reference image right where the feedback is.
Where comment attachments are saved
Files you attach to a comment stay with that comment. They aren't added to your Media Library automatically, which keeps your library free of one-off review files. If you want to reuse one, click the attachment to open it, then click Add to media library.
Only signed-in Vista Social users can add a comment attachment to the Media Library. Shared calendar viewers can attach files to their comments, but they can't add anything to your library.
|
Note Files attached to comments count toward your account's upload limits, the same as anything you upload to the Media Library. See our Fair Use Policy for details. |
How to view comments as a team member
1. But wait, how do you know if a post has comments? Easy peasy! Just look out for the chat bubble icon with a number inside on the calendar view. That number tells you how many comments a post has.
2. You'll also see the chat bubble counter when you open the post.
How to get notified when someone leaves a post comment
1. To get notified on post comments, make sure you have notifications turned on by going to Settings → Account Settings → Notifications.
2. The following users will receive an email notification:
- When someone drops a comment on a post, the original creator of the post will get an email notification - no more missed feedback!
- If someone is mentioned in a comment or a previous comment, they'll also receive a notification.
- If a user ever left a comment on that post, they're in the loop too, and will get a notification.
With our post-commenting feature, you're all set to make your social media post planning a real team effort. Remember, great posts are born from great collaboration. Happy commenting!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can people who are not part of my team leave comments on posts?
A: Yes. If you enable comments for a shared calendar, external collaborators can leave comments directly from there.
Q: Can I delete my internal comment?
A: Yes! Just click on the three dots at the top right of your comment and click Remove. Note that you can only delete your own comment.
Q: Can I attach images or videos to a comment?
A: Yes. Click the paperclip icon in the comment box. It works for both internal and external comments.
Q: Why didn't my comment attachment show up in the Media Library?
A: Comment attachments stay in the comment. Open the attachment and click Add to media library if you want to keep it in your library. Comment uploads used to go to the Media Library automatically, and that changed in October 2026.
Q: Can clients attach files from a shared calendar?
A: Yes. Viewers who can comment on your shared calendar can attach media to their comments. Their files stay in the comment and won't be added to your Media Library unless someone on your team adds them.
Q: Do comment attachments count toward my upload limit?
A: Yes. They count toward the same upload limits as your Media Library uploads.
