Projects are how Vista Work organizes your team's work. Each project belongs to a profile group and comes with its own set of customizable statuses to track progress.
Creating a project
1. In Work, select the profile group you want to create a project for.
2. Give the project a name and description.
3. Pick a color and an icon to help you spot it in the sidebar.
4. Save the project. Three starter statuses are created automatically, so you can begin adding tasks right away.
How statuses work
Every project's statuses fall into three fixed groups: not started, active, and done. You can customize the statuses inside each group, but you can't add or remove the groups themselves.
- Rename any status to match your workflow
- Change a status's color
- Reorder statuses within the board
Deleting a status
1. Open Edit statuses for the project.
2. Remove the status you no longer need.
3. If any tasks are sitting in that status, you'll be asked where to move them before the change is saved.
Best practices
- Keep status names short so they're easy to scan on the board
- Match your statuses to how your team actually talks about progress, for example swapping "in progress" for "design review"
- Review your statuses after a few weeks of use and simplify if the board feels cluttered

Q: Can I create a project that isn't tied to a profile group?
A: Projects are created per profile group. Every profile group automatically gets one.
Q: Can I add a fourth status group beyond not started, active, and done?
A: No. Those three groups are fixed, but you can customize the statuses inside each one.
Q: What happens to tasks if I delete a status?
A: You'll be prompted to move those tasks to a different status before the deletion is saved.
