Keeping your brand's voice consistent across all social media channels is essential to building trust with your audience.
A Brand Safety and Compliance policy can help your team. It catches posts, replies, and the images or videos attached to them when they don't fit your guidelines, before anything that could risk your brand's reputation goes out.
Creating a Brand Safety and Compliance Policy
Brand Safety and Compliance policies can be set up by admins. They can upload a policy or use our AI to create a custom one for each profile group.
1. Head to your profile group settings.
2. Select a profile group and click Edit policy or Generate with AI.
3. Paste your existing policy on the left, or generate one with the help of our AI assistant on the right. Then, set your policy as Active and Save it.

Policy warnings and notifications
If team members draft a post or reply, they'll be notified if it fails to meet your guidelines. This reminder helps everyone stay aligned with your brand's voice and values!
If your team needs a refresher on the policy, they can check it out when scheduling a post
What gets checked
Your policy doesn't just read captions. When a profile group has an active policy, Vista Social checks the text of a post or reply and every image and video attached to it against the same set of rules. A product shot with a competitor's logo, a video with an off-limits claim on screen, a meme that clashes with your tone: each one is flagged the same way a non-compliant caption is.
Media gets checked at two points. The first is when it's added to a post or reply. The second is when it's uploaded to the Media Library, so a flagged asset shows up early instead of at publish time. Because text and media score against one policy, you manage a single set of guidelines, not a separate one for visuals.
Note: Image and video checks run on the policy you already set. There's no separate media policy to create or maintain. |
Brand safety and compliance policies help you empower your team. They can engage freely while protecting your brand's integrity.
Shared calendar viewer controls
Brand Safety and Compliance also lets you choose whether people viewing your shared calendars can copy captions and download media. In a shared calendar link's Link details, turn Viewers can copy captions and Viewers can download media on or off.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a Brand Safety and Compliance policy in Vista Social?
A: It's a set of brand guidelines that can be added to a profile group to help ensure posts and replies align with your company's voice and standards.
Q: Who can create or edit a Brand Safety and Compliance policy?
A: Only account admins and profile group admins (for their assigned groups) can create or edit policies. Restricted users can view them, but cannot make changes.
Q: How do I create or upload a policy?
A: Go to Profile Group Settings → Select a group → Click Edit policy. You can either paste an existing policy or generate one using Vista Social's AI assistant, then activate and save it.
Q: What happens if a team member writes a post that doesn't follow the policy?
A: They'll get a policy warning or notification during drafting. It's a gentle reminder that helps keep content on-brand before it's published.
Q: Can users see the policy when scheduling posts?
A: Yes! Team members can review the policy directly within the post-scheduling experience for quick guidance.
Q: Is this feature available for all plan types?
A: The Brand Safety and Compliance feature is available for teams on the Enterprise plan or those who have purchased the Brand Safety and Compliance add-on.
Q: Does the policy check images and videos, or just text?
A: Both. Vista Social checks the caption or reply text and every image or video attached to it against your active policy. Anything that misses the guidelines gets the same warning a non-compliant caption would.
Q: When does media get checked?
A: When you add it to a post or reply, and when you upload it to the Media Library. Flags appear in the media preview and again while scheduling, so you can fix or swap a visual before it publishes.
