A custom thumbnail (or cover) is the first thing people see before your video plays. In Vista Social, you can upload your own image, pick one from your Media Library, or choose a frame from the video.

How to customize your video thumbnail
1. In your Media Library, click the three-dot menu on your video and select Pick thumbnail.
You can also open the thumbnail picker from the post composer: click the three-dot menu on the attached video and select Pick thumbnail.
2. In the Thumbnail picker, choose your thumbnail: click Upload your own, Select from Library, or Choose frame from video (scroll through the video, then click the button to capture the frame). You can also pick one of the frames under Custom thumbnail.
3. Your thumbnail must have the same aspect ratio as your video. For example, a 1080 × 1920 video needs a 9:16 thumbnail. If it doesn't match, click the pencil icon to crop it. See Video specs and guidelines per social network for the sizes each network accepts.
4. Save your thumbnail:
- Save and update applies the new thumbnail everywhere this video is used, including scheduled posts, published posts, and drafts.
- Save and create new creates a copy of the video with the new thumbnail and leaves the original video, and the posts that use it, unchanged.
5. When you schedule a post with this video, Vista Social uses your new thumbnail.

Q: Can I use a frame from my video instead of uploading an image?
A: Yes. In the Thumbnail picker, click Choose frame from video or pick one of the frames under Custom thumbnail.
Q: Can I use an image from my Media Library as the thumbnail?
A: Yes. In the Thumbnail picker, click Select from Library.
Q: Can I customize the thumbnail without video processing?
A: No. Video processing must be turned on to add or customize a video thumbnail.
Q: What if my thumbnail doesn't match my video's aspect ratio?
A: Click the pencil icon to crop it. The thumbnail must have the same aspect ratio as the video.
Q: Will changing the thumbnail affect my existing posts?
A: It depends on how you save it. Save and update applies the change to every post and draft that uses the video. Save and create new creates a copy and leaves the original unchanged.
