Use Leaderboard ranking settings in Advocacy to decide how advocates are ranked on the Leaderboard tab.
You can reward:
- Activity (people who take actions often)
- Results (people who drive meaningful interactions like comments)
- Reach (people who generate the largest audience exposure)
Where to find these settings
- Open your Advocacy program
- Click Settings
- Scroll to Leaderboard ranking
- Set weights for:
- Reposts
- Shares
- Comments
- Mentions
- Likes
- Reach (per 1,000)
How scoring works
Each advocate gets a score based on your selected weights:
Score = Reposts×w + Shares×w + Comments×w + Mentions×w + Likes×w + (Reach/1000)×w
Important notes:
- You can use decimals (for example,
0.75) - Reach is scaled by 1,000 so it doesn’t overpower everything by default
- Higher weight = more impact on ranking
- Setting a weight to
0removes that metric from scoring
Recommended presets
1) Reward activity (people “doing stuff” consistently)
Best when your goal is habit-building and participation.
Suggested weights:
- Reposts:
2.0 - Shares:
2.0 - Comments:
1.0 - Mentions:
1.0 - Likes:
1.0 - Reach (per 1,000):
0.1
What this encourages:
- Frequent participation across multiple action types
- Daily advocate engagement
2) Reward results (quality interactions, especially comments)
Best when your goal is meaningful engagement, not just volume.
Suggested weights:
- Reposts:
1.0 - Shares:
1.5 - Comments:
3.0 - Mentions:
2.0 - Likes:
0.5 - Reach (per 1,000):
0.2
What this encourages:
- Thoughtful advocacy that leads to conversations
- High-value interactions over lightweight actions
3) Reward reach (audience exposure)
Best when your KPI is visibility and impressions.
Suggested weights:
- Reposts:
0.25 - Shares:
0.25 - Comments:
0.1 - Mentions:
0.1 - Likes:
0.05 - Reach (per 1,000):
1.0
What this encourages:
- Distribution through larger audiences
- Ranking led primarily by visibility outcomes
For almost pure reach ranking:
- Set Reach to
1.0 - Set all other weights to
0
Quick example
If an advocate has:
- 2 reposts, 11 shares, 3 comments, 1 mention, 8 likes, 36,618 reach
And your settings are:
- Reposts
3, Shares2, Comments2, Mentions2, Likes1, Reach0.75
Then:
Score = 2×3 + 11×2 + 3×2 + 1×2 + 8×1 + (36,618/1000)×0.75Score = 6 + 22 + 6 + 2 + 8 + 27.46 = 71.46
Best practices for admins
- Start with one preset that matches your current program objective
- Keep weights stable for at least 2–4 weeks before changing
- Communicate ranking rules to advocates so expectations are clear
- Avoid changing weights too frequently (it can feel unpredictable)
- Revisit weights quarterly as goals evolve
Troubleshooting tips
- Leaderboard feels random: one or more weights may be too high/too low relative to your data
- Reach dominates too much: lower Reach weight (for example from
1.0to0.5) - Too much “low-quality” activity wins: increase Comments/Mentions and lower Likes
- Not enough participation: increase Reposts/Shares and reduce strict result metrics
