The Problem
Instagram has a strict rule for DMs via API (how tools like Vista Social integrate with their network): If you send a DM to someone who hasn't messaged you first, the "door" locks after just one message. You won't be able to send them a second message or a follow-up link.
The Solution
"Opening DMs" Vista Social uses a special tool to "unlock" the conversation. We include a button in your first message. When the user clicks it, it tells Instagram: "It's okay, I want to talk to this business!"
How it works
Send the DM: You send your first message (like a coupon code).
The "Unlock" Button: The message includes a button. You can choose what it says, like "Claim Offer" or "Start Chat."
The 7-Day Window: Once they tap that button, the door stays open for 7 days.
Stay Connected: Every time the customer sends you a new message, that 7-day timer restarts. You can keep talking as long as they keep replying!
Why you need this
Follow-ups: You can check in 2 days later to see if they used their coupon.
Customer Support: If they have a question about the link you sent, you’ll actually be able to answer them.
No "Dead Ends": It prevents your automation from getting stuck after the very first sentence.
