Custom fields let you track the details that matter to your team on every task, beyond the built-in fields like assignee and due date.
Creating a custom field
1. From your Dashboard, go to Work.
2. Click the 3 dots icon next to the project that you want a custom field to, then select custom fields.
2. Click Add field
3. Name the field and specify the type and default value (optional). You can also indicate if this field is required.
4. Turn on Show in cards if you want the value visible on the task card itself, without opening the task.
5. Open a task to see the custom fields added to it.
Available field types:
- Text
- Long text
- Number
- Date
- Dropdown
- Checkbox
- Web
Best practices
- Turn on show in cards for fields your team checks often, like a value or a category, so they don't have to open every task
- Keep dropdown options short and mutually exclusive so reporting on them stays clean
- Mark a field required only if the task genuinely can't move forward without it
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are custom fields shared across all projects?
A: Custom fields are set up per project, so you can tailor them to how each team works.
Q: Can I change a field from optional to required later?
A: Yes. You can edit a custom field's settings, including the required toggle, at any time.
