You can use Zapier to automatically schedule carousel posts to Vista Social based on information stored in another app, such as Google Sheets or Airtable.
This guide explains how to create a Zap that uses your post details, including the caption, images, and scheduled time, to create a carousel post in Vista Social.
How to schedule carousel posts with Zapier
Before proceeding, ensure you have:
- A Zapier account
- A Vista Social account (in case you haven't signed up yet, click here)
- An Excel/Google Sheet or another app that contains your post details, with multiple columns for your images (we will use this to trigger post scheduling)
- A cloud storage account (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox) or any other online storage that allows you to have accessible direct links for your images
|
Note You can also upload images to your Vista Social media library and grab direct media links from there. |
Setting up your Trigger Event
1. On Zapier, click Create → Zaps.
2. Choose your trigger app (e.g., Google Sheets, Airtable, or another data source where your post details are stored). Let's use Google Sheets as an example.
3. Select a trigger event (e.g., "New Spreadsheet Row" if using Google Sheets).
4. Connect your trigger app and configure it to fetch post details (caption, image links, scheduling time, etc.).
5. Test your trigger to make sure you have set it up correctly.
Setting up your Action Event
1. Click on Action, then search for and select Vista Social.
3. Choose the action Schedule Post.
4. Connect your Vista Social account using your API key which you can find in your Integration settings.
5. Back in Zapier, map the required fields for the post.
6. This is the important step: Under Media, make sure to add all the link columns to your post.
7. It's time to test our post! Hit the Test action button just like earlier.
And that's it! Now we have set up an automation for our carousel posts with Zapier.
Expected behavior
When the Zap runs successfully, Vista Social receives the information from your trigger and creates the scheduled post using the mapped fields.
For carousel posts, all image links mapped to the Media field are passed to Vista Social as part of the post.
Key things to check
- Make sure your Vista Social API key is connected correctly in Zapier.
- Make sure every carousel image has its own accessible link.
- Map all image links to the Media field.
- Check the order of your images before testing.
- Make sure your trigger is returning the correct scheduled date and time.
- Test the action before turning the Zap on.
