Vista Social allows you to personalize your left navigation menu so it better matches the way you work.
You can reorder menu items, hide the sections you rarely use, and keep your most frequently used tools within easy reach. Hidden items are never removed from your account, they're simply moved into the More menu, where you can access them anytime.
How to access the navigation settings
There are two ways to open the navigation organizer:
Option 1: From Settings
-
Go to Settings > Account Settings
-
Select Appearance.
- Scroll to Navigation menu items.
Option 2: From the left navigation
- Scroll to the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- Click More.
- Select Customize navigation.
This opens the Navigation Menu Items Organizer, where you can manage the order and visibility of your navigation items. These options only appear when you already have a hidden page.
How to reorder menu items
To change the order of your navigation:
- Open Customize navigation.
- Drag and drop any menu item to your preferred position.
- Changes are reflected immediately in the left navigation.
Place your most frequently used tools, such as Ask Vista, Automations, or Calendar, at the top for quicker access.
How to hide menu items
If there are sections you don't use regularly, you can remove them from your main navigation.
- Open Customize navigation.
- Uncheck any menu item you want to hide.
The item immediately disappears from the main navigation and is moved into the More menu.
To make it visible again, simply check the item again.
|
Note Hiding a menu item does not disable the feature or remove access to it. |
Restore the default navigation
If you want to undo your changes:
- Open Customize navigation.
- Click Restore defaults.
This restores both the default menu order and the default visibility of every navigation item.
Important things to know
- Hidden menu items are never deleted—they remain available under More.
- Reordering your navigation only changes the menu layout. It does not affect your permissions or available features.
- Changes are applied immediately after you make them.
- Restore defaults returns your navigation to the original Vista Social layout at any time.
|
Important Be careful when hiding Create or Calendar These are the two most common entry points for creating and scheduling posts. If both are hidden, scheduling content becomes less intuitive because the primary shortcuts are no longer visible in the main navigation.
Your homepage can be hidden Your configured homepage (start page) is independent of your navigation menu. For example, you can set Ask Vista as your homepage while hiding it from the navigation. You'll still land on Ask Vista after signing in, but it won't appear in the left menu unless you access it through More. |
Best practices
For example:
- If you primarily use Ask Vista and Automations, move them to the top and hide tools you rarely use.
- If you're a content creator, keeping Create, Calendar, and Media Library together can make publishing faster.
- If you ever feel like you've hidden too much, simply click Restore defaults.

Troubleshooting
"A menu item is missing"
If you can't find a section in the left navigation:
- Open the More menu.
- Check whether the item is listed there.
- If needed, open Customize navigation and enable it again.
In most cases, the item has simply been hidden rather than removed.
"My homepage opens a page that isn't in my navigation"
This usually means your Start Page is set to a menu item that's currently hidden.
The page will still open automatically when you sign in, even if it isn't visible in the navigation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: If I hide a menu item, is it deleted or disabled?
A: No. Hiding an item only removes it from your main navigation. You can always find it inside the More menu, or make it visible again from Customize navigation.
Q: What happens if I hide most of my navigation items?
A: All hidden items move into the More menu, so nothing is lost, your main navigation is just shorter and shows only the items you kept checked.
Q: Can I reset my navigation back to normal?
A: Yes. Click Restore defaults in Customize navigation to bring back the default order and visibility for every menu item.
Q: A customer's homepage loads a page I do not see in their navigation, why?
A: Their homepage (start page) setting can point to an item they have hidden from the navigation. Vista Social still opens that page on login, they just do not see its icon in the menu. Check their Customize navigation settings to confirm.
