How to set up auto-DMs from comments
Here’s how you can get started in Vista Social:
Go to the Create menu
Click DM Automations
- Click Create automation
Choose Ready-to-Go Templates
Select Auto DM Links from Comments
- Pick the Instagram or Facebook account you want this automation to run on
From here, you’ll enter a simple builder flow that lets you:
Choose what triggers the automation
You decide when this automation kicks in:
On a specific post or reel
On any post or reel
Set the trigger comment
Want it to activate on any comment? Or only when someone says a specific word or phrase? Totally up to you.
You can also set it to work only for your followers.
Not following you yet? No worries, you can add a custom message that gently nudges them to hit that follow button before they get the goods.
Now just click 'Continue' to wrap up your trigger.
Send an opening DM
This is your friendly first message like, “Hey! Want more info?”
It’s what starts the conversation, and when someone taps the button inside it, they’re giving you the green light to send more messages within 24 hours.
You can choose to enable this as your first action or not, based on your needs.
Send the DM with your link
If they click through, boom! They get a follow-up message. You can:
Add up to three links
Keep it text-only
Customize however you like
If you skipped the Opening DM, this message becomes the first one they see.
Add extras (Optional)
Want to level up your automation? You can also:
Reply publicly to their comment (with 20 rotating message variations)
Follow up after a day or two
If you set up all of these, here’s a popular order to go out:
Follow request

Main DM with the link
- Public comment reply
Follow-up message after 24 hours
