Make allows you to automate workflows between different apps, including scheduling posts to Vista Social.
This guide shows how to create a Make scenario that takes post information from a data source, such as Google Sheets, and uses it to schedule a carousel post in Vista Social.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
- A Make account
- A Vista Social account (in case you haven't signed up yet, click here)
- A data source containing your post information, such as Google Sheets or Airtable.
- A separate field or column for each image you want to include in the carousel.
- Accessible image URLs for the images you want to publish.
|
Note You can also upload your images to the Vista Social Media Library and use the direct media links from there. |
How the workflow works
The basic workflow looks like this:
Data source → Make trigger → Vista Social → Schedule a New Post
Your data source provides the information needed for the post, such as:
- Caption
- Image URLs
- Scheduling date and time
- Other required post details
The image URLs are then mapped to the Media field in Vista Social. Adding multiple image links to this field allows you to create a carousel post.
Now let's begin creating our Scenario!
Setting up your Trigger Event
1. On Make, click + Create a new scenario.
2. Choose your first app - trigger (e.g., Google Sheets, Airtable, or another data source where your post details are stored). Let's use Google Sheets as an example.
3. Start configuring your trigger event (e.g., "Watch New Rows" if using Google Sheets).
4. Connect your trigger app and configure it to fetch your file and post details (caption, image links, scheduling time, etc.).
Setting up your Action Event
1. Click on Add another module, then search for and select Vista Social.
3. Choose the action Schedule a New Post.
4. Connect your Vista Social account using your API key which you can find in your Integration settings.
5. Back in Make, map the required fields for the post.
6. This is the important step: Under Media, make sure to add all the link columns to your post.
7. It's time to test our post! Hit the Run once button below.
And that's it! Now we have set up an automation for our carousel posts with Make.
Key things to check
Before activating your scenario, verify the following:
- Your Vista Social account is connected to Make.
- Your API key is configured correctly.
- Your trigger is retrieving the expected post information.
- Each carousel image has its own URL in your source.
- All image URLs are mapped under Media.
- The required post and scheduling fields are mapped correctly.
- The selected social profile is the one where you want to schedule the post.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use a source other than Google Sheets?
A: Yes. The trigger can use another supported data source, such as Airtable, as long as it provides the information required to create the post.
Q: How many images can I add to the carousel?
A: The number of images you can include may depend on the social network where you're publishing. Make sure the number of images you provide is supported by the destination network.
Q: Can I store the images in Vista Social?
A: Yes. You can upload images to your Vista Social Media Library and use the direct media links from there.
Q: What happens if one of my images is missing?
A: Check the Media mapping in your Vista Social module and make sure the corresponding image URL is included and accessible.
Q: Do I need to connect Vista Social to Make before creating the scenario?
A: The Vista Social module must be connected to your Vista Social account using an API key before the scenario can create scheduled posts.
